Hereditary multiple exostosis is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by the formation of multiple cartilaginous osteochondromata in the immature skeleton. Indications for operative intervention include mechanical dysfunction of a joint or tendon relating to the size of the lesion, and sarcomatous change.
