Phosphoinositide signaling pathways regulate many essential cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation and survival, cytoskeletal organization, and vesicular trafficking. The inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatases regulate the cellular levels of several bioactive phosphoinositide species.
