Abstract The requirements for supplying a growing population with electricity in a developing country demand a thorough knowledge of the statistical properties of the anticipated domestic loads. The cardinal issue is the behaviour of the stochastic, coincidental load demands of small groups of consumers. Statistical descriptions of these loads are necessary for the rigorous theoretical analyses of conductor currents as well as the resulting voltage drops.
