}INTRODUCTION
With the increased use of seat belts in motor vehicles, the frequency of morbidity and mortality associated with motor vehicle accidents may have decreased but there is an associated rise in injuries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the risk of intra-abdominal injury in children who sustained Chance-type fractures in a motor vehicle accident.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A retrospective review was conducted of pediatric patients admitted for injuries sustained in motor vehicle…

3 siblings in a minivan who were involved in a high-speed motor vehicle accident and as a result of wearing their 3-point restraints improperly, suffered Chance fractures, none had neurologic dysfunction, but 2 had serious intra-abdominal injuries requiring surgical repair.
Diaphragmatic avulsion with chance fracture: a rare association in the seat belt syndrome.

The case of a child who was involved in a car accident and who presented with multiple traumas is described; liver and lung injuries were first detected, and the patient was managed accordingly, and a right diaphragmatic avulsion and a Chance fracture were diagnosed and treated successfully.

Chance fractures in children are potentially devastating injuries largely caused by motor vehicle collisions, and these fractures may be more common than previously thought.

TDR should be kept in mind while dealing with patients assessed for abdominal or respiratory symptoms whenever there is history of trauma or blunt injury especially in children as the increasing of non-operative management of blunt abdominal trauma could result in missing important injuries as TDR.

Flexion-distraction injuries represent an uncommon pattern of injury in the pediatric population and carry a high rate of concomitant injuries and a high morbidity and mortality.

Intra-abdominal sepsis leading to multiple organ failure accounts for most of the late deaths, indicating the importance of early haemodynamic stabilization, adequate debridement of devitalized tissue and wide drainage.

A small case series involving the triad of seatbelt-related severe abdominal wall disruption, hollow viscus injury, and distal abdominal aortic injury after a motor vehicle collision is presented with the goal of preventing a future missed diagnosis.
