BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a condition causing recurrent subcortical strokes. MR imaging, which shows focal lacunar infarcts and leukoaraiosis, plays a central role in the diagnosis and evaluation.
