A continuous model without feedback control was developed previously by O'Fallon et al. for granulocyte kinetics. The continuous model used the integration of a negative exponential density function to describe the behavior of the circulating blood. This study shows that when neutropenia occurs some problems are encountered, and that discretizing the integral equation is a solution around these problems.
