The X-ray structure of prephenate dehydratase from Streptococcus mutans shows that the catalytic site of Sm-PDT has closed state conformation without phenylalanine molecule bound to its regulatory site, suggesting a possibility that the binding of phenylAlanine in its regulatorysite may not be the only prerequisite for the closed state Conformation of Sm -PDT.

It was shown that imazapic is translocated from the foliage of treated plants to broomrape attachments on its roots and controls the parasite, and both herbicides inhibited P. aegyptiaca callus and flowering shoots and are inhibited by glyphosate and imazAPic, respectively, leading to deficiency of those amino acids in the parasite tissues and ultimately, death of the parasite.
