A sexual adult trematode that is considered to be conspecific with the distinctive larval trematode Cercaria praecox Walker, 1971 is reported from the kyphosid fish Scorpis lineolata Kner in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. The sexual adult is consistent with the cercarial body of Cercaria praecox in having a single caecum with an asymmetrical appendix, symmetrical testes immediately posterior to the ventral sucker, and the ovary and vitellarium both well posterior to the testes. Two new species of Bacciger Nicoll, 1914 (Faustulidae) are described infecting clupeids collected from the waters off Queensland, Australia and Phylogenetic analysis of available 28S data show they are most closely related to Pseudobacciger cheneyae Sun, Bray, Yong, Cutmore & Cribb, 2014, also recorded off Lizard Island.

A new species of Galactosomum otepotiense is described, infecting four different piscivorous birds in New Zealand: Caspian terns, red-billed and black-backed gulls and little blue penguins, which is distinguished from most other members of the 'bearupi-group' in having a single circle of spines on the ventral sucker, and spines over most of the body.

DNA sequences of the 28S ribosomal gene were generated and phylogenetic analyses were undertaken using maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference to assess the phylogenetic position of the new species within the family Fellodistomidae Nicoll, 1909, showing that the newspecies of Steringotrema is nested as the sister species of steringophorus dorsolineatus.

The generation of novel partial 28S ribosomal DNA sequences allowed a phylogenetic assessment of the genus and demonstrated that Plectognathotrema clearly belongs in the Zoogonidae Odhner, 1902, rather than in the Fellodistomidae Nicoll, 1909, where it is currently assigned.
