Abstract Methods are described for chromatographing “isocholesterol” mixtures as the p-iodobenzoates-I131 or benzoates on silicic acid-Celite columns developed with petroleum ether. Lanosterol and dihydrolanosterol can be isolated directly from “isocholesterol.” Agnosterol and dihydroagnosterol can be estimated spectroscopically in “isocholesterol” and isolated from mixtures enriched by preliminary recrystallizations of the acetates.
