A cne vulgaris is an extremely common and distressing condition that affects over 90 per cent of adolescents between the age of 16 and 18 years. Of these, approximately 15 per cent require medical intervention. Furthermore, research has shown that acne has a negative impact on patients’ quality of life that is comparable to that caused by conditions such as asthma and epilepsy. Following a clinical program that studied more than 2,800 patients, clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide 2.5% was found to be highly effective and well tolerated and was recently introduced for the once-daily treatment of inflammatory and noninflammatory lesions in moderate-to-severe acne.
