Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is known to be one of the leading causes of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The aim of this study was to estimate the incidence rate of ESRD and the risk for progression to ESRD in SLE patients compared to the general population.A total of 21,253 SLE patients were extracted from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database between 2008 and 2013.
