Analysis of genetic susceptibility to mercury contamination evaluated through molecular biomarkers in at-risk Amazon Amerindian populations
TLDR
It is suggested that GSTM1 may be involved in the biotransformation of mercury in humans as well as other molecular biological markers studied, such as hemoglobin, haptoglobin and glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
Genetic Variation in Glutathione-Related Genes and Body Burden of Methylmercury
TLDR
A role of GSH-related polymorphisms in MeHg metabolism is suggested, with evidence of effect modification with increasing P-PUFA.
Longitudinal study of methylmercury and inorganic mercury in blood and urine of pregnant and lactating women, as well as in umbilical cord blood.
TLDR
Exposure to methylmercury and mercury vapor in pregnant women and their newborns in Stockholm shows the importance of speciation of Hg in blood for evaluation of exposure and health risks.
Polymorphisms in Glutathione-Related Genes Affect Methylmercury Retention
TLDR
Findings indicate that GCLC polymorphisms that affect GSH production also affect methylmercury retention, and that GSTP1 may play a role in conjugating methylMERcury with GSH.
Perinatal lead and mercury exposure in Austria.
The Relation Between Human Exposure to Mercury and Thyroid Hormone Status
TLDR
The results suggest that low-level exposure to Hg can affect thyroid hormone status during prenatal and early postnatal exposure depending on the form of Hg, gender, ethnicity, lifestyle, or socioeconomic status (dental amalgam fillings).

TLDR
Minamata disease (MD) is an indirect poisoning by MeHg through the food chain as a result of environmental contamination, and is the first known disease to cause abnormalities in the fetus due to a toxic substances passing through the placenta.
