A retrospective study was performed to determine the appropriateness and efficiency of preoperative blood ordering practices in orthognathic surgery. Results obtained showed that preoperative blood typing and crossmatching should be performed on patients who will be receiving combined maxillary and mandibular osteotomies with iliac crest grafts.
