  • Despite the successful clinical use of miotics in chronic simple glaucoma, the exact mechanism of their therapeutic action is not known. I t is not clear whether their primary point of attack is only the ciliary muscle or if additional points of attack exist (eft BXRX~Y, 1966). But even if their only primary action of importance in this connection were to contract the ciliary muscle, it is by no means evident how such a contraction reduces outflow resistance.
