The response to epithelium-derived relaxant factor (EpDRF) released from guinea-pig trachea by acetylcholine was studied in the precontracted rat anococcygeus muscle in a coaxial bioassay system. Acetylcholine caused no relaxation of rat anococcygeus muscle which was precontracted with phenylephrine.
