The mechanisms that regulate the transport of the macrophage class A scavenger receptor during ligand uptake were investigated. Kinetic analysis of the changes in receptor phosphorylation demonstrated that serine phosphorylation increased during the internalization of acetyl-low density lipoproteins (LDL) by macrophages.
