The scattering of an H-polarized plane electromagnetic wave by a gyrotropic cylinder in the case of oblique incidence is studied. The emphasis is placed on the behavior of the time-averaged Poynting vector field. The detailed analysis of the spatial structure of the energy flow shows that under certain conditions, a significant increase in the magnitude of the Poynting vector near the cylinder surface takes place compared with that for an isotropic cylinder.
