The genus Furnestinia (Diplectanidae) contains only one species, Furnestinia echeneis. However, its close morphological similarity with the genus Lamellodiscus (Diplectanidae) raises doubt concerning its placement in a separate genus. These two genera differ only by their number of lamellodiscs: one for Furnestinia, two for Lamellodiscus.
