Two hundred forty feral domestic cats trapped between 2004 and 2008 in the city centre and the suburb districts of Dubai, as well as in desert biotopes, were subjected to a complete parasitological dissection. The established parasite fauna consisted of Cystoisospora felis (12.9%), Cystoisospora rivolta (9.2%), Toxoplasma/Hammondia (0.8%), Heterophyes heterophyes (2.5%), Heterophyopsis continua (0.4%), Joyeuxiella spp. (65.8%), Diplopylidium noelleri (37.1%), Hydatigera taeniaeformis (16.7…
Ectoparasites in urban stray cats in Jerusalem, Israel: differences in infestation patterns of fleas, ticks and permanent ectoparasites
TLDR
The high rates of ectoparasite infestation in the cats studied constitute a risk for the spread of vector‐borne infections of zoonotic and veterinary importance.
Ectoparasites in urban stray cats in Jerusalem, Israel: differences in infestation patterns of fleas, ticks and permanent ectoparasites
TLDR
The high rates of ectoparasite infestation in the cats studied constitute a risk for the spread of vector-borne infections of zoonotic and veterinary importance.
High prevalence of helminth parasites in feral cats in Majorca Island (Spain)
TLDR
Feral cats serve as reservoirs of helminths in the countryside of Majorca and their populations should be controlled and positive associations found are probably related to host susceptibility.
Gastrointestinal helminthes in stray cats (Felis catus) from Aizawl, Mizoram, India.
TLDR
Gastrointestinal helminthes were collected from necropsied stray cats in Aizawl, Mizoram, India from January 2005 to April, 2009, indicating the possibility of these cats were paratenic hosts for toxocariasis in cats.
Survey of helminth parasites of cats from the metropolitan area of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
TLDR
This is the first time cats parasitized with Centrorhynchus erraticus are reported in the Americas and the presence of species of helminths with zoonotic potential is observed.
Parasite communities in stray cat populations from Lisbon, Portugal
TLDR
The prevalence and variety of parasites found in the sampling are substantially higher than the numbers previously reported in Portugal, which emphasizes the need for parasite control strategies based on demographic containment of stray cat populations in urban areas to promote public health protection.
Intestinal helminths of stray dogs from Tunisia with special reference to zoonotic infections
TLDR
Results of this study emphasize the need to interrupt parasite transmission using preventive approaches in zoonoses control programmes mainly against cystic echinococcosis, as well as reducing transmission to other animals by regular dog dosing treatments and proper management of dog populations.
Helmintofauna de gatos (Felis silvestres catus, LINNAEUS, 1758) da região metropolitana de Cuiabá
TLDR
The ocurrence of Centrorhynchus erraticus is the first time recorded in cats in Americas, and retracts an important finding to the understanding of the distribution of the genus CentrorHynchUS which is common in species of wild animals.
Helminth burden in stray cats from Thessaloniki, Greece
TLDR
Fecal samples from 215 stray cats from area of Thessaloniki, Greece, were tested by coprological methods and the results showed that A. tubaeforme and T. taeniaeformis were more prevalent in males, while D. caninum, T. leonina and D. cati were significantly higher in young cats than in adults.

A survey of helminths in domestic cats in the Pretoria area of Transvaal, Republic of South Africa. Part 1: The prevalence and comparison of burdens of helminths in adult and juvenile cats.
TLDR
The helminths found in 1,502 necropsied cats were examined and indicated that 65% of the cats were infested, thus any treatment should be aimed at the elimination of both cestodes and nematodes, with a broad spectrum anthelmintic.
Internal parasites of feral cats from the Tasmanian Midlands and King Island.
TLDR
This is the first record of Cylicospirura felineus, Fibricola minor and Echinoparyphium sp in cats in Australia.
Helminth parasites and arthropods of feral cats.
TLDR
The prevalence (%) of helminth parasites in 327 mainly adult feral cats from 3 habitat groupings in Victoria and New South Wales was determined and there was no correlation between degree of parasitism and general condition of the cats.
GASTROINTESTINAL HELMINTHS OF THE COUGAR, FELIS CONCOLOR L., IN NORTHEASTERN OREGON
TLDR
Helminths of nine species were identified from 39 cougars obtained in northeastern Oregon, and undeveloped cestodes of the genus Taenia in 26 animals had lost rostellar hooks and could not be identified.
Prevalence of Toxocara cati and other intestinal helminths in stray cats in Shiraz, Iran.
TLDR
The study revealed that T. cati was one of the most frequently detected intestinal helminths, which is an important source of zoonotic helminth species, in stray cats from Shiraz.
[Investigation of helminth infections of cats and dogs in the Hatay province].
TLDR
In this study autopsies and fecal examinations of 8 cats and 6 dogs were performed, the high prevalence of ascarid infections in cats and dogs may be important for human health.
Patterns of parasitic infections in faecal samples from stray cat populations in Qatar
TLDR
The parasite fauna of stray cat populations, comprising mainly helminth parasites, is described for the first time from the arid environment of the Qatar peninsula during the winter and summer months of 2005 and the prevalence and intensity of infections were influenced by site and season.
