Membranolytic macromolecules are promising vehicles for cytoplasmic drug delivery, but their efficiency and safety remains primary concerns. To address those concerns, membranolytic properties of various poly(β-L-malic acid) (PMLA) copolymers were extensively investigated as a function of concentration and pH.
