Allantoate anaidohydrolase catalyzes the conversion of allantoate into ammonia, carbon dioxide and ureidoglycine. The enzyme is found in Streptococcus atlantoicus, Arthrobacter allantoicus, Escherichia coli, E. coli vat. acidilactici, E. freundii and Pseudomonas acidovorans. These microorganisms are able to grow in a medium containing allantoin as the sole source of carbon, nitrogen and energy, but only under anaerobic conditions, except P. acidovorans which grows under aerobic conditions only… Expand
