The intrinsic viscosity [n] has been measured for a series of esters and alcohols in tetrachloromethane. It is shown that for short chains, when terminal elements or other structural heterogeneities of the molecules have considerable influence, [n]<0. In the case of low molecular polymers a difference was found between [n] and calculated values of [n]calc. This difference is the result of polymer-solvent interaction, and depends on the number of atoms in the chains.
