Four inbred cabbage lines have been derived from a single parental plant through several generations of selfing. Two inbreds have been found homozygous for an “S 1” allele while the other two are each homozygous for “S 2”. Each inbred is self-incompatible, cross-incompatible with the inbred carrying the same “S” allele, and fully cross-compatible with inbreds carrying the other “S” allele.
