Isoflavones are members of the plant-derived polyphenol family. Their best-known biological effects are their antioxidant, antimicrobial and antifungal activities. In humans they also act as phytohormones, counteract ostheoporosis and influence many cellular processes. Some isoflavones are known to be inhibitors of cancer cell growth.
