There has been a recent increase in mumps orchitis among pubertal and postpubertal males. These outbreaks can be attributed to a reduction in the uptake of measles‐mumps‐rubella (MMR) vaccine during the early to mid‐1990s in children who have now matured. The mumps virus is commonly associated with extra‐salivary complications. Unvaccinated postpubertal males diagnosed with mumps virus frequently develop complications such as mumps orchitis. Therefore, it is important that urologists are…
Clinical Features of Mumps Orchitis in Vaccinated Postpubertal Males: A Single-Center Series of 62 Patients
TLDR
In this study, mumps orchitis in postpubertal vaccinated patients showed a relatively shorter febrile duration and less scrotal swelling and a lower incidence of bilaterality were found upon physical examination and ultrasonography.
Mumps Orchitis: Clinical Aspects and Mechanisms
TLDR
A mini-review of the knowledge of the clinical aspects and possible mechanisms of mumps orchitis highlights advances in knowledge.
Mumps presenting as epididymo‐orchitis among young travellers: under‐recognition, missed diagnoses and transmission risks
TLDR
A series of cases is used to highlight the diagnostic allenges, risk factors and public health implications of mps orchitis, and to illustrate the infection risks for under-vaccinated adults travelling to mumps-endemic countries.
Spermiogram part of population with the manifest orchitis during an ongoing epidemic of mumps.
TLDR
The current study suggests that post-orhitis atrofia is expected within a period of 2-3 months after the infection, and thus, the monitoring on the patients' treatment would continue.
Simultaneous Mumps and Acute Appendicitis: Report of a Case and Review of the Literature
TLDR
In this report, the experience of managing a case of concurrent mumps and acute appendicitis is shared.
Relationship Between Post-Pubertal Mumps Infection In Males With Infertilityand Its Effect on The Result of Seminal Fluid Analysis and Occurrence of Immunological Infertility
TLDR
Abnormal seminal fluid analysis result may be due to post-pubertal mumps and it can lead to male infertility by affecting the seminal fluid parameters and also by the production of anti-sperm antibodies which could lead to subfertility in adult males.
Pregnancy after mumps: a case report
TLDR
Low-dose contraceptive treatment containing progesterone, followed by Drospil, which includes both estradiol and progester one, had a synergistic effect that led to the growth of the patient’s uterus.
Incidence of Mumps in Hilla City

It is shown that among patients presented to private clinic and Al Hillah general teaching hospital with symptoms and signs of mumps and its complications, history taken, clinical examination, treatment and follow-up done, and incidence of Mumps in Hilla City in 2020 was high.
Acute epididymitis
TLDR
Information is provided to aid the diagnosis and management of acute epididymitis in the primary care setting to help GPs recognise the typical presentation.
Reemergence of mumps in São Paulo, Brazil - the urgent need for booster shot campaign to prevent a serious infectious disease.

TLDR
The disease is described, results are presented, the need for vaccination is indicated, and a further aim of the study is to increase the motivation of adolescents and adults for vaccination.

TLDR
Orchitis developing in association with mumps is universally recognized as a prevalent concomitant of this disease and there is comparatively little knowledge regarding the underlying pathologic lesion or its mode of development.
Mumps: a resurgent disease with protean manifestations
TLDR
Treatment is generally supportive, although intravenous immunoglobulin therapy may have a future role in mumps management, and interferon alpha‐2b treatment may be considered specifically for mumps epididymo‐orchitis.
[Infertility after mumps orchitis (author's transl)].
TLDR
Although some severe fertility disturbances were seen, no case of real infertility was found and patients with corticosteroid therapy showed better results at followup examinations than the others.
Measles, mumps and rubella – the urologist's perspective
TLDR
The article reviews the pathophysiology, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, and long‐term sequelae of this increasingly prevalent condition and provides a reference for all practising Urologists treating this disease.
The incidence and outcome of mumps orchitis in Rochester, Minnesota, 1935 to 1974.
TLDR
A population-based study of mumps orchitis over a 40-year period in Rochester, Minnesota, is reported, and there was no apparent increase in genitourinary malformations in the male offspring conceived after the occurrence of m measles in the fathers.
Treatment of mumps orchitis with ACTH and cortisone.
TLDR
Because cortisone and ACTH are well known for their anti-inflammatory action they have been tried by a number of investigators in the hope that they might be as effective as surgery in treating mumps orchitis.
Mumps epididymo‐orchitis with prolonged detection of virus in semen and the development of anti‐sperm antibodies
TLDR
Sequencing of the SH gene of the virus showed this to be a new mumps genotype distinct from the virus circulating currently in the UK, which may have potential long‐term adverse effects on the patient's fertility.
Mumps Epididymo-orchitis: Treatment by Anesthetic Block of the Spermatic Cord
TLDR
Many variables in the course of mumps epididymo-orchitis mean the effectiveness of various forms of therapy is difficult to assess, and Diethylstilbestrol appears to be of no value therapeutically.
