We complement our study of=Fe enhanced stellar population models of Lick absorption indices (Thomas et al. 2003) by comparing two sets of=Fe enhanced models. In both models the impact on Lick indices due to=Fe enhancement is accounted for through a modification of the stellar absorption line-strengths using the response functions of Tripicco & Bell (1995). One set of models, however, uses solar-scaled, the other =Fe enhanced stellar evolutionary tracks. Since the =Fe enhanced tracks are hotter…

α-Enhanced Integrated Lick/IDS Spectral Indices and Milky Way and M31 Globular Clusters and Early-Type Galaxies
All 25 Lick/IDS spectral indices have been computed for the integrated light of simple stellar populations over broad ranges of age and metallicity and with effects from horizontal-branch stars fully
Measuring age, metallicity and abundance ratios from absorption‐line indices
In this study we present detailed calculations of absorption line indices on the Lick System based on the new stellar models by Salasnich et al. (2000) incorporating the enhancement of -elements
Nearby early-type galaxies with ionized gas. III. Analysis of line-strength indices with new stellar
Aims. The paper is devoted to the study of the underlying stellar population of a sample of 65 nearby early-type galaxies, predominantly located in low density environments, a large fraction of which
Analysing globular cluster observations: Models and analysis tools for Lick/IDS indices
We have extended our evolutionary synthesis code, galev, to include Lick/IDS absorption-line indices for both simple and composite stellar population models (star clusters and galaxies), using
The Epochs of Early-Type Galaxy Formation as a Function of Environment
The aim of this paper is to set constraints on the epochs of early-type galaxy formation through the archaeology of the stellar populations in local galaxies. Using our models of absorption-line
The first paper in this series explored the effects of altering the chemical mixture of the stellar population on an element-by-element basis on stellar evolutionary tracks and isochrones to the end
Spectral Modeling of Star-forming Regions in the Ultraviolet: Stellar Metallicity Diagnostics for High-Redshift Galaxies*
The chemical composition of high-redshift galaxies is an important property that gives clues to their past history and future evolution and yet is difficult to measure with current techniques. In
The stellar population histories of early-type galaxies. III. The Coma Cluster
We present stellar population parameters of 12 elliptical and S0 galaxies in the Coma cluster around and including the cD galaxy NGC 4874, based on spectra obtained using the Low Resolution Imaging
Flux-calibrated stellar population models of Lick absorption-line indices with variable element abundance ratios
We present new stellar population models of Lick absorption-line indices with variable element abundance ratios. The models are based on our new calibrations of absorption-line indices with stellar
Minor Mergers or Progenitor Bias? The Stellar Ages of Small and Large Quenched Galaxies
We investigate the origin of the evolution of the population-averaged size of quenched galaxies (QGs) through a spectroscopic analysis of their stellar ages. The two most favoured scenarios for this

The Stellar Population Histories of Local Early-Type Galaxies. I. Population Parameters
This paper commences a series of investigations into the stellar populations of local elliptical galaxies as determined from their integrated spectra. The goal of the series is to determine the star
Integrated spectroscopy of bulge globular clusters and fields - II: implications for population synthesis models and elliptical galaxies
An empirical calibration is presented for the synthetic Lick indices (e.g. Mg2, ‹Fe›, H s, etc.) of Simple Stellar Population (SSP) models that for the first time extends up to solar metallicity.
Stellar population models of Lick indices with variable element abundance ratios
We provide the whole set of Lick indices fromCN1 to TiO2 in the wavelength range 4000≲λ≲6500 A of simple stellar population models with, for the first time, variable element abundance ratios, [α/Fe
MG and Fe absorption features in elliptical galaxies
Fe and Mg indices from two homogenous collections of nuclear elliptical galaxy spectra are compared with model indices. In the average giant elliptical, the [Mg/Fe] ratio exceeds that of the most
Models for Old, Metal-poor Stars with Enhanced α-Element Abundances. I. Evolutionary Tracks and ZAHB Loci; Observational Constraints
Stellar evolutionary tracks have been computed for 17 [Fe/H] values from -2.31 to -0.30 assuming, in each case, [?/Fe] = 0.0, 0.3, and 0.6. The helium abundance was assumed to vary from Y = 0.2352 at
Integrated spectroscopy of bulge globular clusters and fields - I. The data base and comparison of individual Lick indices in clusters and bulge
We present a comprehensive spectroscopic study of the integrated light of metal-rich Galactic globular clusters and the stellar population in the Galactic bulge. We measure line indices which are
Evolutionary synthesis of stellar populations: a modular tool
A new tool for the evolutionary synthesis of stellar populations is presented, which is based on three independent matrices, giving respectively (1) the fuel consumption during each evolutionary
Population Synthesis in the Blue. I. Synthesis of the Integrated Spectrum of 47 Tucanae from Its Color-Magnitude Diagram
We perform an empirical synthesis of the blue integrated spectrum of the metal-rich globular cluster 47 Tucanae, based directly on the color-magnitude diagram of the cluster coupled to a moderately
