BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Surgical treatment of patients presenting with subarachnoid haemorrhage secondary to a leaking cerebrovascular aneurysm involves coiling or clipping. Traditionally all patients undergoing this procedure are cross-matched routinely.
