In this article, we present the results of the first systematic surveys of golden jackals in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H). The population status and distribution of the golden jackal (Canis aureus) in B&H was largely unknown, and the few existing literature records mention their presence at only five localities in the country. We interviewed managers of all the hunting grounds in B&H and reviewed available jackal hunting records from 2000 to 2016. In total, we collected 212 records of legally… Expand

Habitat use of golden jackals (Canis aureus) in riverine areas of northern Bosnia and Herzegovina
Recently confirmed expansion of golden jackals ( Canis aureus ) into countries without any previous records poses questions, one of them focusing on the species potential and possibly varying habitatExpand
Northernmost record of reproduction of the expanding golden jackal population
The first cases of reproduction of golden jackal from northern Poland, 500 km north from previously reported records, are described, suggesting local establishment of population with predicted population increase and further expansion. Expand
Home range, habitat selection, density, and diet of golden jackals in the Eastern Plains Landscape, Cambodia
We used radiocollars and GPS collars to determine the movements and habitat selection of golden jackals (Canis aureus) in a seasonally dry deciduous forest with no human settlements in easternExpand
How can climate change affect the potential distribution of common genet Genetta genetta (Linnaeus 1758) in Europe?
The common genet Genetta genetta is a carnivore of African origin introduced in Europe at least 13 centuries ago. Its distribution, located in the southwest of the continent, is chiefly constrainedExpand
Istraživanje čaglja (Canis aureus) u Parku prirode Lonjsko polje akustičnom metodom i metodom fotozamki
Jedan od mogućih razloga je činjenica da su određeni dijelovi PP Lonjsko polje u nekim razdobljima nedostupni čagljevima zbog poplava, što bi moglo imati utjecaj na njihovo korištenje prostora. Expand

The main objective of this study was to analyze the habitat use and population densities of the golden jackal in four countries across lowland regions of the Balkan Peninsula, known as the core areaExpand
The re-establishment of the golden jackal (Canis aureus) in FYR Macedonia: Implications for conservation
Using a questionnaire survey and a camera trap study, the first unequivocal evidence for the re-establishment of the golden jackal in FYR Macedonia is provided. Expand
The results show that the only limiting factor in the spreading of the jackal in Hungary is the quality of the habitat (hiding-place and minimal disturbing), and the expansion of thejackal is uncontinuous- in contrast to Red fox. Expand
Range expansion of the golden jackal (Canis aureus) into Poland: first records
The first three records of golden jackal from Poland are described and suggest a natural expansion of the species into Poland, probably from different source populations, and indicate the urgent need to determine the status of the goldenjackal in this part of Europe. Expand
Present distribution of the Golden Jackal Canis aureus in the Balkans and adjacent regions
Small, scattered, but resident, populations of Golden Jackal Canis aureus occur along the coasts of the Balkan Peninsula. The bulk of these European Jackals is concentrated in the eastern parts ofExpand
Seasonal variation in diet of the golden jackal (Canis aureus) in Serbia
Findings confirm golden jackal’s opportunistic nature, foraging behaviour and high dependence on human-provided food resources as well as between winter and spring, which are confirmed by stomach content analysis. Expand
Golden jackal expansion in Europe: a case of mesopredator release triggered by continent-wide wolf persecution?
Top-down suppression by apex predators can limit the abundance and spatial distribution of mesopredators. However, this phenomenon has not been studied over long time periods in human-dominatedExpand
Winter diet composition of the golden jackal (Canis aureus L., 1758) in Serbia
