The Antlia galaxy cluster is the third nearest galaxy cluster after Virgo and Fornax. We used the wide-field MOSAIC camera of the 4-m CTIO telescope to search in the brightest cluster galaxies for globular cluster systems, which were detected in the two larger ellipticals - NGC 3258 and NGC 3268. These galaxies each contain several thousand clusters; NGC 3258 more than NGC 3268. The color distributions of the globular cluster systems are clearly bimodal. The peak colors agree with those of…

Globular cluster systems in low-luminosity early-type galaxies near the Fornax cluster centre

We present a photometric study of the globular cluster systems (GCSs) of the Fomax cluster galaxies NGC 1374, NGC 1379 and NGC 1387. The data consist of images from the wide-field MOSAIC imager of

Globular cluster systems as tracers of the evolutionary history in NGC 3258 and NGC 3268

We present a new photometric study of NGC 3258 and NGC 3268 globular cluster systems (GCSs), using images in filters $B,C,V,R,I$ and $z'$, obtained from four different telescopes. The wide spatial

A Gemini/GMOS study of the bright elliptical galaxy NGC 3613 and its globular cluster system

We present the first photometric study of the globular cluster system (GCS) of the E galaxy NGC 3613 (Mv = -21.5, d = 30.1 Mpc), as well as the surface photometry of the host galaxy, based on

Globular Cluster System erosion in elliptical galaxies

Context. In this paper we analyze data of 8 elliptical galaxies in orde r to study the difference between their globular cluster systems (GCSs) radial distributions and those of the galactic stell ar

The paucity of globular clusters around the field elliptical NGC 7507

Context. There is strong evidence that globular cluster systems (GCSs) of massive galaxies are largely assembled by infall/accretion processes. Therefore, we expect the GCSs of isolated elliptical

Early-type galaxies in low-density environments: NGC 6876 explored through its globular cluster system

We present the results of a photometric study of the early-type galaxy NGC 6876 and the surrounding globular cluster (GC) system. The host galaxy is a massive elliptical, the brightest of this type

The globular cluster system of NGC 1316 - I. Wide-field photometry in the Washington system

Context. NGC 1316 (Fornax A) is a prominent merger remnant in the outskirts of the Fornax cluster. The bulge stellar population of NGC 1316 has a strong intermediate-age component. Studies of its

Early-type galaxies in the Antlia cluster: global properties

We present an extension of our previous research on the early-type galaxy population of the Antlia cluster (d ~ 35 Mpc), achieving a total coverage of ~ 2.6 deg x deg and performing surface

Galaxy populations in the Antlia cluster – II. Compact elliptical galaxy candidates

Continuing our study of galaxy populations in the Antlia cluster, we present a photometric analysis of four galaxies classified as compact elliptical (cE) galaxies in the 1990 Antlia Group catalogue

Isolated ellipticals and their globular cluster systems. I. Washington photometry of NGC 3585 and NGC 5812

The globular cluster (GC) systems of isolated elliptical galaxies have only recently begun to be studied in detail, and may exhibit morphological connections to the evolutionary histories of their
