Abstract The penicillate genus Unixenus Jones, 1944 is widespread, with species found in Africa, Madagascar, India and Australia. Each of the two Australian species was originally described from single samples from Western Australia. In this study, collections of Penicillata from museums in all states of Australia were examined to provide further details of the two described species, to revise the diagnoses for both the genus and the species, and to better understand the distribution of the two…

Figures from this paper

Four new species of Unixenus Jones, 1944 (Diplopoda, Penicillata, Polyxenida) from Australia
TLDR
A revised diagnosis of Unixenus karajinensis and new details on the distribution of the species are given and a key is presented to 10 of all 11 currently known species of the genus.
Corrigenda: Short M, Huynh C (2013) Four new species of Unixenus Jones, 1944 (Diplopoda, Penicillata, Polyxenida) from Australia. ZooKeys 278: 75–90, doi: 10.3897/zookeys.278.4765
TLDR
The latitude given for the single collecting event of this species in Corringle state forest is incorrect and should be 33°40'00"S not 33°22'12"S.
A species checklist of the millipedes (Myriapoda, Diplopoda) of India.
TLDR
At present, the millipede fauna of India comprises over 270 nominate species or subspecies in at least 90 genera, 25 families and 11 orders, but the number of species and even genera cannot be claimed precise.
The millipedes of Barrow Island, Western Australia (Diplopoda)
TLDR
Six species of millipede are recorded from Barrow Island, including three species of pin-cushion millipedes of the order Polyxenida, Lophoturus madecassus, and one species of the family Haplodesmidae (genus and species indet).
Reproduction, egg morphology and development observed in two Australian penicillate millipedes, Lophoturus queenslandicus (Lophoproctidae) and Phryssonotus novaehollandiae (Synxenidae) (Diplopoda)
TLDR
The results indicate that the reproductive strategies of Australian lophoproctid and synxenid species are adapted to their harsh environment.
Annotated bibliography for Barrow Island terrestrial invertebrates
A bibliography is provided of publications treating terrestrial invertebrates on Barrow Island. A brief overview is also given of natural history and invertebrate collections on Barrow Island.

Revision of the genus Propolyxenus Silvestri with description of a new species
TLDR
It is confirmed that 5 previously described species should remain in the genus Propolyxenus while the inclusion of P. crassisetosus Marquet & Conde, 1950 is questioned.
