Abstract The genera Didymodon and Bryoerythrophyllum are reviewed for Antarctica, where they are each represented by a single species, viz. D. brachyphyllus (Sull.) R.H.Zander and B. recurvirostrum (Hedw.) P.C.Chen. These are provided with brief descriptions, illustrations, and a key. Taxonomic, ecological and phytogeographical questions are discussed in light of distribution maps for Antarctica and the world.
