Oogenesis, spermatogenesis, and the sexual cycle of the bivalve Corbicula japonica in the estuary of the Kievka River (Primorye, Sea of Japan) were studied. The stages of development of germ cells and the role of auxiliary cells in gonads during vitellogenesis were described. The features of sperm morphology were recorded. It was shown that the reproductive cycle in C. japonica is determined by the water temperature, that gametogenesis starts at the boundary between April and May, that spawning… Expand

The composition and seasonal dynamics of the hemocyte cell population in the clams Corbicula japonica Prime (1864) of the Kievka River (the basin of the Sea of Japan)
The parameters of a hemocyte cell population were investigated in the bivalve mollusk Corbicula japonica of the Kievka River (the basin of the Sea of Japan) at four seasonal points corresponding toExpand
Gonadal cycle of Corbicula fluminea (Bivalvia: Corbiculidae) in Pampean streams (Southern Neotropical Region)
TLDR
The results stressed the difficulty of identifying a particular pattern of gamete release and of spawning behaviour in this invasive species, especially when inhabiting an unstable environment. Expand
The population-genetic structure of Corbicula japonica prime, 1864 (Bivalvia: Cyrenidae) in estuarine water bodies of the Primorsky Region
The population-genetic structure of the bivalve Corbicula japonica from ten estuarine localities in the Primorsky Region was investigated using nine allozyme loci as gene markers. This study revealedExpand
Species Composition of Phytoplankton in the Gastrointestinal Tract of Meretrix casta in the Coastal Area of Laem Phak Bia: The King's Royally Initiated Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project, Phetchaburi Province
Species composition of phytoplankton in the gastrointestinal tract of Meretrix casta was examined. Meretrix casta were collected from the coastal area of Laem Phak Bia during September, 2012 toExpand
Histological and ultrastructural studies on oogenesis of the freshwater bivalve Caelatura (Horusia) parreyssi (Philippi, 1848)
TLDR
This research presents a novel probabilistic approach called “informed consent” that allows for informed consent to be selected for use in the diagnosis and treatment of major medical conditions. Expand
Proximate analysis and fatty acid of Corbicula fluminea (C. fluminea) tissue in Kelantan, Malaysia
TLDR
The obtained data indicates that the composition percentage of omega-6 ( n-6) in PUFA is significantly greater than omega-3 (n-3) and therefore can be considered as a healthy diet of smoked C. fluminea. Expand

THE REPRODUCTIVE PHASE OF GONAD IN MOLLUSCA (CORBICULA FLUMINEA MULLER) IN SHANGHAI DIANSAN LAKE
TLDR
The reproductive phase of the gonads of Corbicula fluminea (Muller) is studied, which consists of many follicles which arc located around the visceral organs, such as liver and intestines. Expand
Effects of temperature and salinity on spawning of the brackish water bivalve Corbicula japonica in Lake Abashiri, Hokkaido, Japan
TLDR
It was concluded that most C. japonica failed to spawn in 1995 and the effects of temperature and salinity on the spawning were examined, which explained well both annual and seasonal fluctuations of larval occurrence in Lake Abashiri in past years. Expand
Role of spermatozeugmata in the spawning ecology of the brooding oyster Ostrea edulis.
TLDR
The net effect of spermatozeugma formation in Ostrea edulis may be the retention of viable sperm in high concentrations at the benthic/water column interface for prolonged periods after spawning, at least in low current regimes. Expand
SPERM TRANSFER AND STORAGE IN THE BROODING BIVALVE MYSELLA TUMIDA
TLDR
Mysella tumida has a seasonal reproductive cycle at Patricia Bay, Vancouver Island, Canada, which is preceded by a period of exogonadal sperm storage, which persists for 1—4 months. Expand
Euspermatozoa, Paraspermatozoa and Spermatozeugmata of Littoraria (Palustorina) articulata (Prosobranchia: Caenogastropoda) with Special Reference to the Pseudotrich
TLDR
It is shown that the elongate, flagellum-like component of the paraspermatozoon is in fact a tubular extension of the plasma membrane which encloses granular material but no axonemes or microtubules. Expand
Oocyte Growth and Vitellogenesis
TLDR
It is impossible to solve this problem without a knowledge of the mechanisms involved in the enormous growth of oocytes, which is linked with the accumulation in them of a large quantity of ribosomes and yolk intended for the future embryo. Expand
