The fuzzball proposal for black holes: an elementary review
@article{Mathur2005TheFP, title={The fuzzball proposal for black holes: an elementary review}, author={Samir D. Mathur}, journal={Fortschritte der Physik}, year={2005}, volume={53} }
We give an elementary review of black holes in string theory. We discuss BPS holes, the microscopic computation of entropy and the 'fuzzball' picture of the black hole interior suggested by microstates of the 2‐charge system.

We give an elementary review of black holes in string theory. We discuss black hole entropy from string microstates and Hawking radiation from these states. We then review the structure of two-charge…

In this project, we explore the area of black holes in String Theory. String Theory has had several successes in describing properties of black holes. Recent progress in String Theory points toward…

We construct and discuss the form of the (effective) spacetime geometry inside a black hole undergoing a quantum transition to a white hole, taking into account the back-reaction of the component of…

Black holes behave as thermodynamic objects, and it is natural to ask for an underlying "statistical mechanical" explanation in terms of microscopic degrees of freedom. I summarize attempts to…

In string theory, black-hole backgrounds are far from unique and there are large families of completely smooth, horizonless geometries with the same structure as a black hole from infinity down to…

Living in a middle ground between the light fundamental entities of particle physics and the massive black holes of astrophysics are objects that trap light but don’t obey classical rules.
