Sixteen species of Copepoda were recorded in this first detailed study of Costa Rican zooplankton. Two of these species are halophile. Notes are given on some of the species and their distribution. One new species found will be described elsewhere. The Costa Rican fauna resembles in composition the fauna of other Central American and Caribbean regions. Relatively few species were recorded. This is partly due to a low intensity of sampling but also to the paucity of lentic habitats. The… Expand

The distribution of species of the genusThermocyclops (Copepoda, Cyclopoida) in the western hemisphere, with description ofT. parvus, new species
TLDR
The distribution and ecology of species of cyclopoid copepods of the genusThermocyclops in the western hemisphere are reviewed and knowledge of population dynamics, feeding and reproductive biology of several planktonic species is reviewed. Expand
Diversity of the free-living marine and freshwater Copepoda (Crustacea) in Costa Rica: a review
TLDR
The known diversity of marine copepods of Costa Rica is still in development and represents up to 52.6% of the total marine microcrustaceans recorded in the country. Expand
The neotropical species of Mesocyclops (Copepoda, Cyclopoida): an upgraded identification key and comments on selected taxa
TLDR
An analysis of upgraded characters used in the taxonomy of cyclopine copepods to provide a new key for the identification of the members of the freshwater genus Mesocyclops recorded in the neotropical region results in clarification of the taxonomical status of two nominal species not previously revised. Expand
Taxonomic revision of the Mexican Eucyclops (Copepoda: Cyclopoida) with comments on the biogeography of the genus
TLDR
The ornamentation patterns of the fourth swimming legs are proposed as reliable additional characters to recognise closely related species of Eucyclops and the importance of the antennal basis ornamentation in the taxonomy of the genus is supported by data. Expand
A new species of Eucyclops Claus (Copepoda: Cyclopoida) from Southeast Mexico with a key for the identification of the species recorded in Mexico
Eucyclops torresphilipi sp. nov. is described from samples collected in the state of Chiapas, on the southeastern Pacific coast of Mexico. It belongs to a group of species similar to the presumablyExpand
CHECKLIST OF PLANKTONIC COPEPODA FROM A COLOMBIAN COASTAL LAGOON WITH RECORD OF HALICYCLOPS EXIGUUS KIEFER
TLDR
One of them: Halicyclops exiguus Kiefer, 1934 is new to the Colombian copepod fauna; comparative morphological comments and illustrations of this species are also provided. Expand
AN AFRO-ASIAN SPECIES OF MESOCYCLOPS (COPEPODA: CYCLOPOIDA) IN CENTRAL AMERICA AND MEXICO
Abstract The presence of populations of the Afro-Asian cyclopoid copepod crustacean Mesocyclops thermocyclopoides Harada, 1931, in southeastern Mexico and in Central America is recorded. This speciesExpand
Diversity and distribution of freshwater copepods (Crustacea) in southeastern Mexico
TLDR
This first survey of the freshwater copepod fauna in the state of Tabasco shows it to be constituted mainly by neotropical forms, similar to that known from the Yucatan Peninsula, but different from the faunal associations of central Mexico. Expand
On Kiefer’s American Eucyclops (Copepoda, Eucyclopinae): redescriptions and comments on the historical records of E. delachauxi, E. prionophorus, E. bondi and E. leptacanthus
TLDR
A revision of the American records of these species confirms that some are likely to refer to undescribed species and certainly deserves further study. Expand
Two new species of Eucyclops Claus (Copepoda: Cyclopoida) from the Chihuahuan Desert with a redescription of E. pseudoensifer Dussart
Two new species of the freshwater copepod genus Eucyclops are described from two sites in the Chihuahuan Desert (CHD), which includes parts of northern Mexico and southern United States. EucyclopsExpand
