An (<i>n</i>, <i>k</i>)-Poisson Multinomial Distribution (PMD) is a random variable of the form <i>X</i> = ∑<sub><i>i</i>=1</sub><sup><i>n</i></sup> <i>X</i><sub><i>i</i></sub>, where the <i>X</i><sub><i>i</i></sub>’s are independent random vectors supported on the set of standard basis vectors in <sup><i>k</i></sup>.
