Abstract This paper discusses the foundations of the theory of socionics, including the rationale behind Ausra Augustinaviciūtė’s model of information processing by the human psyche, and the philosophical thought behind the concept of information metabolism elements. Socionics was developed in the former Soviet Union and may be regarded as analogous to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator typology of personality.
