We explore the formation and evolution of hydrogen-deficient post-AGB white dwarfs. To this end, we compute the complete evolution of an initially 2.7 Mstar from the zero-age main sequence through the thermally pulsing and mass-loss phases to the white dwarf stage. Particular attention is given to the chemical abundance changes during the whole evolution. A time-dependent scheme for the simultaneous treatment of abundance changes caused by nuclear reactions, diffusive overshoot- ing, salt… Expand
New cooling sequences for old white dwarfs
We present full evolutionary calculations appropriate for the study of hydrogen-rich DA white dwarfs. This is done by evolving white dwarf progenitors from the zero-age main sequence, through theExpand
New full evolutionary sequences of H- and He-atmosphere massive white dwarf stars using mesa
We explore the evolution of hydrogen-rich and hydrogen-deficient white dwarf stars with masses between 1.012 and 1.307 Msun, and initial metallicity of Z=0.02. These sequences are the result of mainExpand
Importance of fingering convection for accreting white dwarfs in the framework of full evolutionary calculations: the case of the hydrogen-rich white dwarfs GD 133 and G 29-38
Context. A large fraction of white dwarfs show photospheric chemical composition that is polluted by heavy elements accreted from a debris disk. Such debris disks result from the tidal disruption ofExpand
The evolution of ultra-massive white dwarfs
Ultra-massive white dwarfs are powerful tools used to study various physical processes in the asymptotic giant branch (AGB), type Ia supernova explosions, and the theory of crystallization throughExpand
Evolution and colors of helium-core white dwarf stars with high-metallicity progenitors
Aims. Motivated by the recent detection of single and binary He-core white dwarfs in metal-rich clusters, we present a full set of evolutionary calculations and colors appropriate to the study ofExpand
New chemical profiles for the asteroseismology of ZZ Ceti stars
We compute new chemical profiles for the core and envelope of white dwarfs appropriate for pulsational studies of ZZ Ceti stars. These profiles are extracted from the complete evolution of progenitorExpand
The formation of DA white dwarfs with thin Hydrogen envelopes through a late thermal pulse
We study the formation and evolution of DA white dwarfs, the progenitors of which have experienced a late thermal pulse (LTP) shortly after the departure from the thermally pulsing AGB. To this end,Expand
New evolutionary sequences for hot h-deficient white dwarfs on the basis of a full account of progenitor evolution
We present full evolutionary calculations appropriate for the study of hot hydrogen-deficient DO white dwarfs, PG 1159 stars, and DB white dwarfs. White dwarf sequences are computed for a wide rangeExpand
Full evolutionary models for PG 1159 stars. Implications for the helium-rich O(He) stars
Aims. We present full evolutionary calculations appropriate to post-AGB PG 1159 stars for a wide range of stellar masses. Methods. We take into account the complete evolutionary stages of PG 1159Expand
White dwarf evolutionary sequences for low-metallicity progenitors: The impact of third dredge-up
Context. White dwarfs are nowadays routinely used as reliable cosmochronometers, allowing several stellar populations to be dated.; Aims. We present new white dwarf evolutionary sequences forExpand

New evolutionary models for massive ZZ Ceti stars - II. The effects of crystallization on their pulsational properties
In view of recent claims that asteroseismology could supply invaluable insight into the crystallization process oc- curring in the interiors of massive white dwarf stars, we present in this work newExpand
Evolution on the AGB and beyond: on the formation of H-deficient post-AGB stars
The evolution on the AGB and beyond is reviewed with respect to the origin of Wolf-Rayet central stars. We focus on thermal pulses due to their particular importance for the evolution of hydrogenExpand
The Chemical Composition of White Dwarfs as a Test of Convective Efficiency during Core Helium Burning
Pulsating white dwarfs provide constraints to the evolution of progenitor stars. We revise He-burning stellar models, with particular attention to core convection and to its connection with theExpand
The double-layered chemical structure in DB white dwarfs
Received; accepted Abstract. The purpose of this work is to study the structure and evolution of white dwarf stars with helium-rich atmospheres (DB) in a self-consistent way with the predictions ofExpand
Thick to Thin: The Evolutionary Connection between PG 1159 Stars and the Thin Helium--enveloped Pulsating White Dwarf GD 358
