Fluorescent light of any wavelength, emitted by a microscopical specimen excited with visible light, can be observed using crossed polarizers and a dark-field condenser. The absorbance of Eosin is high in the green portion of the spectrum, so that visible light from a tungsten lamp is highly effective in exciting the fluorescence of this dye. Elastic fibres in routine sections stained with Haemalum and Eosin have been found to fluoresce rather strongly, while most other Eosin-stained structures… CONTINUE READING
