PURPOSE To establish the fate of the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) during lens fiber differentiation. METHODS Organelles were visualized by confocal or electron microscopy. For fluorescence microscopy, organelles were labeled with fluorescent probes or antibodies raised against organelle-resident proteins.
