We present a new method for studying the star formation history of late-type cluster galaxies undergoing gas starvation or a ram pressure stripping event by combining bidimensional multifrequency observations with multizone models of galactic chemical and spectrophotometric evolution. This method is applied to the Virgo Cluster anemic galaxy NGC 4569. We extract radial profiles from recently obtained UV GALEX images at 1530 and 2310 A, from visible and near-IR narrow (Hα) and broadband images… Expand
We analyze the evolution of 42 spiral galaxies in the Spitzer Infrared Nearby Galaxies Survey. We make use of ultraviolet (UV), optical, and near-infrared radial profiles, corrected for internalExpand
The influence of the cluster environment on the star formation efficiency of 12 Virgo spiral galaxies
The influence of the environment on gas surface density and star formation efficiency of cluster spiral galaxies is investigated. We extend previous work on radial profiles by a pixel-to pixelExpand
The formation and evolution of Virgo cluster galaxies – II. Stellar populations
We use a combination of deep optical and near-infrared light profiles for a morphologically diverse sample of Virgo cluster galaxies to study the radially resolved stellar populations of clusterExpand
The galaxy populations from the centers to the infall regions in z 0.25 clusters
Context. In the local universe, the relative fractions of galaxy types differs in galaxy clusters in comparison to the field. Observations at higher redshift provide evidence that cluster galaxiesExpand
The Origin of Dwarf Ellipticals in the Virgo Cluster
We study the evolution of dwarf (LH < 109.6 LH☉) star-forming and quiescent galaxies in the Virgo Cluster by comparing their UV to radio centimetric properties to the predictions of multizoneExpand
A snapshot on galaxy evolution occurring in the Great Wall: the role of Nurture at z = 0
With the aim of quantifying the contribution of the environment on the evolution of galaxies at z = 0 we have used the DR7 catalogue of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) to reconstruct the 3-DExpand
The ultraviolet luminosity function and star formation rate of the Coma cluster
We present estimates of the GALEX NUV and FUV luminosity functions (LFs) of the Coma cluster, over a total area of ~9 deg^2 (~25 Mpc^2), i.e. from the cluster center to the virial radius. OurExpand
The strong transformation of spiral galaxies infalling into massive clusters at z≈ 0.2
We describe two peculiar galaxies falling into the massive galaxy clusters Abell 1689 (Z ≈ 0.18) and Abell 2667 (Z ≈0.23), respectively. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) images show extraordinary trailsExpand
Hα3: an Hα imaging survey of HI selected galaxies from ALFALFA - IV. Structure of galaxies in the Local and Coma superclusters
Context. We present the analysis of the galaxy structural parameters from Hα3, an Hα narrow-band imaging follow-up survey of ∼800 galaxies selected from the HI Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA SurveyExpand
Cold gas properties of the herschel reference survey: III. Molecular gas stripping in cluster galaxies
The Herschel Reference Survey is a complete volume-limited, K-band-selected sample of nearby objects including Virgo cluster and isolated objects. Using a recent compilation of Hi and CO data forExpand

Spectrophotometry of Galaxies in the Virgo Cluster. I. The Star Formation History
As a result of an extensive observational campaign targeting the Virgo Cluster, we obtained integrated (drift-scan mode) optical spectra and multiwavelength (UV, U, B, V, H) photometry for 124 andExpand
Hα surface photometry of galaxies in the Virgo cluster. IV. The current star formation in nearby clusters of galaxies

Massive Star Formation Rates and Radial Distributions from Hα Imaging of 84 Virgo Cluster and Isolated Spiral Galaxies
The massive star formation properties of 55 Virgo Cluster and 29 isolated S0-Scd bright (MB ≤ -18) spiral galaxies are compared via analyses of R and Hα surface photometry and integrated fluxes asExpand
Star Formation Thresholds in Galactic Disks
We report the first results of a detailed study of the star formation law in a sample of 32 nearby spiral galaxies with well-measured rotation curves, H I and H_2 (as traced by CO) surface densityExpand

We examine the origin of clustercentric gradients in the star formation rates and colors of rich cluster galaxies within the context of a simple model where clusters are built through the ongoingExpand
The evolution of disk galaxies and the origin of S0 galaxies
We reconsider the relation between spiral and SO galaxies in the light of recent data on the colors and morphology of disk systems, and on the content of clusters at different redshifts. StarExpand
Tracing the star formation history of cluster galaxies using the H$\alpha$/UV flux ratio
Since the Hα and UV fluxes from galaxies are sensitive to stellar populations of ages <10 7 and ≈10 8 yr respectively, their ratio f (Hα)/f (UV) provides us with a tool to study the recent t ≤ 10 8Expand
