The nature of chiral phase transition for QCD with two light quark flavors is not yet completely resolved. This is primarily because one has to understand whether or not the anomalous U(1) symmetry in the flavor sector is effectively restored along with the chiral symmetry. Since the physics near the chiral phase transition is essentially non-perturbative, we employ first principles lattice techniques to address this issue. We use overlap fermions, which have exact chiral symmetry on the…

The fate of axial U(1) in 2+1 flavor QCD towards the chiral limit

The region of the Columbia plot with two light quark flavors is not yet conclusively understood. Non-perturbative effects, e.g. the magnitude of the anomalous U(1) axial symmetry breaking, decides on

Study of the axial U(1) anomaly at high temperature with lattice chiral fermions

We investigate the axial U(1) anomaly of two-flavor QCD at temperatures 190--330 MeV. In order to preserve precise chiral symmetry on the lattice, we employ the Mobius domain-wall fermion action as

Recent progress and the latest results on the bulk thermodynamic properties of QCD matter from lattice is reviewed. In particular, I will stress upon the fact that lattice techniques are now entering

Topology and axions in QCD

QCD axions are at the crossroads of QCD topology and Dark Matter searches. We present here the current status of topological studies on the lattice, and their implication on axion physics. We outline

Aspects of model dependence of $$\eta '$$–$$\eta $$ complex treated by going beyond the isospin limit

Exploring the extent of model dependence, we study effects of certain Ansaetze for the T-dependence of the correction term in the QCD topological susceptibility. The one producing unwanted effects on

Axial U(1) symmetry at high temperature in 2-flavor lattice QCD

We investigate the axial U (1)A symmetry breaking above the critical temperature in two-flavor lattice QCD. The ensembles are generated with dynamical Mobius domain-wall or reweighted overlap
