Two parasitoids of the potato tuber moth (Phthorimaea operculella) (Zeller)[Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae], Copidosoma uruguayyensis Tachikawa andApanteles subandinus Blanchard, originally from South America, have been successfully established in South Africa. Recoveries many kilometers from the original release sites are common. In the Transvaal these two parasitoids have shown, by replacing the indigenous parasitoids, that they can possibly achieve better control of the potato tuber moth. The more… CONTINUE READING
