This study determined the effects of intravenous ampicillin, cefazolin, and cefoxitin on blood pressures and heart rates in healthy, anesthetized dogs. Forty dogs were each randomly assigned to a control, ampicillin, cefazolin, or cefoxitin group. Antibiotics or saline was delivered by intravenous bolus prior to surgical stimulation.
