Beta-adrenoceptor agonists have recently been shown to promote substantial loss of adipose tissue in laboratory animals. One of these BRL, 26830A, increases thermogenesis in human volunteers and has been shown to enhance the rate of weight reduction in patients adhering to a strict reducing regimen.
