Detailed experimental data for conductivity and membrane potentials are presented for lecithin/cholesterol/decane bilayers in the presence of the uncoupler carbonylcyanidem-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP). These compare favorably with a theoretical model derived to explain the mechanism of action of uncouplers on bilayers.
