Abstract The oxygen consumption of Galleria larvae paralysed by Bracon venom has been measured. Injection of 5 μl of venom solution (1 gland/ml) reduced the respiration by about 20 per cent. Increasing the concentration of the injected venom solution to 10 or 100 glands/ml reduced the respiration by about 50 per cent which was of the same order as that caused by the natural sting of the wasp.
