Substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) constitute the main sensory peptides in the trigeminal ganglion (TG). The objective of this study was to characterize peptidergic changes in the streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus rat model both quantitatively and qualitatively.
