OBJECTIVE Tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy may cause recurrent tonsillitis and upper airway obstruction in children. A reduced dietary intake and failure to gain weight is frequently reported by parents of children with a history of recurrent acute tonsillitis and adenotonsiller hypertrophy.
