The effect of protein-energy undernutrition on the activity of the cholinesterase enzymes is receiving the attention of a number of laboratories1,12,16. Both cholinesterase (ChE) 16A7 and acetylcholinesterase (ACHE) 2 have been shown to be increased in the developing brains of protein-energy undernourished animals.
