Beta-endorphin (βE) is an important reliever of pain. Various stressors and certain modalities of physiotherapy are potent inducers of the release of endogenous βE to the blood stream. Most forms of exercise also increase blood βE level, especially when exercise intensity involves reaching the anaerobic threshold and is associated with the elevation of serum lactate level. Age, gender, and mental activity during exercise also may influence βE levels. Publications on the potential stimulating… Expand

The Effect of an Exhaustive Aerobic, Anaerobic and Resistance Exercise on Serotonin, Beta-endorphin and BDNF in Students
Background and Study Aim: Sport exercises play a major role in many hormonal factors which related to happiness in human. Therefore, the short-term effects of three anaerobic, aerobic and resistanceExpand
The acute response of beta endorphin , cortisol and lipid profile to physical activity in men addicted to drugs and non-drug
The purpose of this study was to investigate the release of beta-endorphin, cortisol and lipid profile in heroin addicts using aerobic exercise is walking on a treadmill. Study on two groups ofExpand
Investigation of Beta Endorphin Changes After Bruce Test in Active and Sedentary Individuals
Opioid peptides have been implicated in many biological processes acting as hormones, neurohormones or neurotransmitters. The aim of this research was to investigate effect of endurance training onExpand
The effects of Beta-Endorphin: state change modification
TLDR
The effects of β-END on behaviors like food intake and sexual behavior, and the mechanisms involved in reward, meditation and pain control are discussed in detail. Expand
The physiological effects of massage post exercise in humans
TLDR
The results suggested that both massage modalities were effective at enhancing the clearance of lactate during short term recovery, compared to resting alone, and the massage enhanced the feeling of relaxation and wellbeing during recovery, scoring higher than rest alone. Expand
The Effect of Intensive Exercise on Beta-Endorphin and Serum Cortisol Levels in Elite Wrestlers
Methods: In this quasi-experimental research with one group and pretest-posttest design, 16 elite wrestlers within the age range of 18 to 25 years were purposefully and selected and they voluntarilyExpand
Acute and chronic exercise modulates the expression of MOR opioid receptors in the hippocampal formation of rats
TLDR
It is indicated that acute and chronic exercise modulates MOR expression in the hippocampal formation of rats, and this change in expression was not significantly different in rats trained using both acute or chronic exercise. Expand
AVALIAÇÃO DA DOR PRESSÓRICA EM JOELHOS DE RATOS SUBMETIDOS A EXERCÍCIO RESISTIDO
TLDR
Evaluating the use of resistive exercise on joint pain in the knees of rats subjected to injection of formalin 5% concluded that the pain produced by 5% formalin was attenuated with resistance exercise. Expand
Mecanismos de ação e efeitos da fisioterapia no tratamento da dor
TLDR
Several mechanisms and effects may be influenced by physical therapy physical and cognitive behavioral techniques, thus contributing to the treatment of painful patients and helping the choice of techniques based on identified clinical mechanisms. Expand

TLDR
An overview of the complexity of opioid receptor-mediated pharmacologic actions in the eye is provided and evidence suggests that opioidergic ligands have the potential to protect against retinopathies, particularly those associated with glaucoma. Expand

Effect of Massage on Serum Level of β-Endorphin and β-Lipotropin in Healthy Adults
We conducted this study to evaluate the effect of massage on the levels of endogenous opiates in peripheral venous blood. The results were based on findings from 21 healthy, adult volunteers. AfterExpand
Acidosis stimulates beta-endorphin release during exercise.
TLDR
The results of this study indicate that acidosis rather than any other physiological change associated with high-intensity exertion is the primary stimulus for beta-endorphin release. Expand
[Stress hormones liberated by fangotherapy. ACTH and beta-endorphin levels under heat stress].
TLDR
The results of the study on plasma levels of ACTH confirm that the thermal stress associated with fango therapy activates the pituitary gland, and the repeated brief increases in plasma beta-endorphin during thermal treatment result in progressive improvement in articular and muscular symptomatology. The influence of physical and mental training on plasma beta‐endorphin level and pain perception after intensive physical exercise
The intention of the study was to investigate a possible correlation between increase in circulating blood level of beta-endorphin and decrease in pain perception after short-term intensive physicalExpand
[Beta-endorphin and stress hormones in patients affected by osteoarthritis undergoing thermal mud therapy].
TLDR
It may be suggested that thermal treatment, by reducing inflammation, reduced pain and therefore diminished the cause of stress is suggested. Expand
Beta-endorphin and corticotropin release is dependent on a threshold intensity of running exercise in male endurance athletes.
TLDR
It is concluded that intensive running with an anaerobic response causes an increase in the concentrations of beta-E + beta-LPH and ACTH in plasma in endurance athletes, whereas slight aerobic exercise did not elicit any response. Expand
Plasma beta-endorphin immunoreactivity: response to resistance exercise.
TLDR
The results support previous research which has reported no significant changes in beta-endorphin immunoreactivity following resistance exercise, as well as reported findings of considerable variability in the beta- endorphin response to exercise. Expand

Immunoreactive ACTH, β-Endorphin, and Cortisol Levels in Plasma following Spinal Manipulative Therapy
TLDR
The findings appear to exclude a humoral role for β-endorphin in mediating the analgesic response to spinal manipulative therapy and suggest that such therapy is not a stressor that activates the hypothalamo-pitultary-adrenal axis. Expand
Response of plasma beta-endorphins to transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in healthy subjects.
TLDR
This study did not demonstrate a difference between the effects of HiF/Lol versus Lof/Hil TENS on plasma beta-E in healthy subjects, and it is not shown that analgesia produced by low frequency/high intensity TENS is mediated by release of beta-endorphin. Expand
